As many as 5,000 runners and walkers take to the streets of Kalamazoo each May for the Kalamazoo Marathon & Borgess Run For The Health Of It Half Marathon which takes participants on a winding, out-and-back route through the city streets of Kalamazoo, through the campus of Borgess Medical Center and around the shores of Spring Valley Lake.The first 3.5 miles of this USATF certified course are identical to the Kalamazoo Marathon. However, when marathoners veer onto Lovell, half marathoners continue on Burdick until they meet back up with the marathon course, which they’ll follow until the finish. You will find course excitement all along the way – the Kalamazoo community comes out in force to provide runner support.Throughout the race, runners travel across paved surfaces, both on the urban city streets as well as on the paved pathways that make their way through the grounds of Spring Valley Park.
