Pro tips
Racing it

Three Loops, Three Crossings
The full marathon is a 3 loop course on the beachfront, so you'll pass the start area twice. Use those crossings to restock and reset rather than banking time on loop one.

Two Start Times
The full marathon starts at 7:00 am and the half at 7:15 from Solimar Beach. Half runners share the opening oceanfront miles with the marathon field, so seed yourself realistically.

Early Start Rules
If you need more than the 7:00 hour limit, the 6 am early start requires advance notice so your bib is timed. Water stations aren't set up until 6:30 am, so carry your own for the first 30 minutes.

Flat and Certified
The course is mostly flat and USATF certified as a Boston qualifier (#CA24016TEB). With plenty of room to move and a gentle ocean breeze, it suits an even, ambitious pace.

Mild Coastal Morning
Typical race-day temperature is 18.3°C, mild for a July morning on the coast. Conditions favor steady pacing over heat management, even on the exposed beachfront stretches.

In Ventura
Beach and Downtown
Ventura's downtown and beachfront are compact and walkable, and the Pacific Surfliner stops downtown — useful when summer traffic clogs the coast highway.
Where to Watch
Spectators get long open views from the Ventura Pier and the beachfront promenade. Downtown Main Street is close by for the gaps between sightings.
Slow Recovery
Ventura Harbor and the Channel Islands National Park visitor center are flat, easy wandering the day after, and the town's low-key surf-and-farm character suits a slow morning.
