About
The race
The Galway Bay Run Marathon takes place in the coastal city of Galway on Ireland’s west coast. The course follows the shoreline of Galway Bay, offering views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding coastline. Runners pass through the seaside area of Salthill and along the popular promenade overlooking the bay. The race begins near the Claddagh and follows a looped course made up of two short laps followed by four longer laps. Participants run along closed roads through local neighborhoods before returning along the waterfront promenade. Known for its flat and fast layout, the course is popular with runners aiming for personal best times. The race atmosphere reflects Galway’s lively culture and welcoming community support. With its coastal scenery and energetic crowd, the Galway Bay Run Marathon offers a memorable running experience on Ireland’s west coast.
