About
The race
The Riyadh Marathon takes runners through the modern streets of Saudi Arabia’s capital on a loop course that highlights the city’s wide boulevards and urban landmarks. The race starts in Riyadh at approximately 625 m elevation and finishes at around 625 m, creating a mostly balanced course that returns runners to the start area. The route features long straight sections typical of the city’s road network and includes gradual climbs in the first half before descending again in the later kilometers. The highest point of the course reaches roughly 679 m around the halfway point, while the lowest point drops to about 617 m in the later stages, creating gentle rolling terrain rather than steep climbs. Known for its modern setting and large international participation, the event has quickly become one of the most prominent marathons in the Middle East.
