Rock Dome Repeats
The course goes up, around, and over a huge granite dome more than once. Pace those rock sections by effort, not speed; footing changes constantly and rugged sections reward caution.

Cactus and Creek Feet
Watch for cactus near the trail and expect a few creek crossings that may carry water after rain. Choose shoes that handle wet rock and loose dirt, and keep your eyes on the line.

In Burnet
Car-Based Base
Burnet is a small Hill Country county seat, so plan on driving for errands, race-day travel, and meals. Fuel up in town before heading out to rural ranch roads.
Race-Day Driving
Burnet is rural, and the ranch sits outside town, so spectators and runners should plan to drive and carpool. Cell service can be patchy in the Hill Country; download directions before leaving.
Recover by the Lakes
After the race, Burnet's Hill Country setting makes nearby lake parks and the downtown square good low-key places to walk, eat, and recover. Keep the pace easy and enjoy the small-town feel.
