The Lyon Marathon takes place in Lyon, France, and follows a looped course that highlights both the historic city center and the banks of the Rhône and Saône rivers. The race starts in central Lyon and quickly moves along wide avenues before following extended flat sections along the riverbanks. The course passes through key districts and crosses several bridges, offering views of the city’s UNESCO-listed old town and modern areas. The profile is mostly flat with gentle undulations, particularly around bridge crossings and in the second half, but without any sustained climbs. The layout allows for steady pacing while still requiring small adjustments for the rolling sections.
