About
The race
The Firenze Half Marathon starts and finishes in Piazza Santa Croce, one of Florence’s most famous squares, surrounded by historic buildings and the Basilica of Santa Croce. From there, the course winds through the city’s historic center and along the Arno River, passing several iconic landmarks including Piazza del Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio, and Palazzo Vecchio. Runners move between narrow medieval streets and broader avenues while crossing historic bridges. The route features a mix of smooth road sections and traditional cobblestones typical of historic Italian city centers, with gentle elevation changes but no major climbs. Many runners choose this race for the unique opportunity to run through a city rich in art, architecture, and history while experiencing one of Italy’s most atmospheric urban half marathon courses.
