The Brisbane Marathon takes place along the Brisbane River and is run on a two-loop course that showcases the city’s riverside paths and urban scenery. Starting near the city center, runners follow a mix of waterfront promenades, parklands, and bridges, with frequent views of the skyline and river. The course features consistent rolling terrain rather than steep climbs, with short but regular undulations that repeat on the second loop. While there are no major ascents, the accumulation of elevation and the repetition of the profile make pacing strategy important, especially in the later stages. The event combines scenic running with a moderately challenging course profile.
