About
The race
The Portland Marathon follows a loop course through downtown Portland and its surrounding neighborhoods, starting and finishing near Waterfront Park. The route passes through Old Town and the Pearl District before crossing the Willamette River multiple times, including via the Broadway and Burnside Bridges. The course includes sections through Reed College and the Brooklyn neighborhood before returning north along the Eastbank Esplanade. The profile features consistent rolling hills and several bridge climbs spread across the course, with no single sustained ascent but frequent elevation changes that require pacing adjustments
