Pro tips

Racing it

  1. 01

    Two Start Times

Full starts at 7:00 and half at 7:15, so plan your warmup and corral arrival around your distance; don't rely on the half start if you're running the full.

    From the start time

  2. 02

    Early Start Water Gap

If you take the 6 am early marathon start, water stations may not be fully set up until 6:30, so carry your own water for the first 30 minutes and know the course.

    From the description

  3. 03

    Four Loops

The full marathon is 4 loops on the Camarillo Bike Path, so expect repeated scenery and multiple chances for spectators to see you; count laps and keep pacing steady.

  4. 04

    Flat and Closed

The course is all paved and flat as a pancake along the Camarillo Bike Path with no auto traffic; settle into even effort early rather than surging.

  5. 05

    August Heat

Typical race-day temperature is 20.4°C and the full starts at 7:00, so use the cooler start and plan for warmer conditions later.

In Camarillo

  • Race-Day Traffic

Camarillo is car-oriented, so race morning traffic can build near Pleasant Valley Fields; carpool or arrive early and expect local detours around the bike path.

  • Spectator Spots

Spectators can watch from Pleasant Valley Fields and along the bike path, then walk into Old Town Camarillo for coffee and a break between laps.

  • Old Town Recovery

After the race, Old Town Camarillo's walkable core and nearby parks make an easy place to stretch out, eat, and let tired legs loosen; expect suburban calm rather than big-city bustle.
